The Estate lies within the slopes of the Val d'Orcia, an undulating landscape known for
its enchanting beauty and juxtaposition of colors and textures. This land, deep green in
spring and golden in fall, is also rich with art and culture. Carefully preserved ancient
sites, dating back to the Etruscan era, blend with art from the Medieval and early Renaissance
periods. The area is also famous for its agriculture. The vineyards of the Val d'Orcia,
including Castiglion del Bosco's own, produce the most coveted Italian wines, Brunello di
Montalcino and its younger sibling, Rosso di Montalcino.
In addition to a deeply rooted appreciation for history and viniculture, Tuscans are
sports enthusiasts. The opportunities for outdoor sports here are diverse: fly
fishing, hunting, horseback riding, hiking, cycling, hot-air ballooning and, of
course, witnessing il Palio, the infamous equestrian event that takes place each summer in Siena.
