The
Winery
The Estate's 56 hectares of vineyards, all of which are licensed to produce Brunello,
extend over two areas of the property, providing different exposures and climatic
characteristics. Located 350 meters above sea level, the spectactular vineyards
surrounding Capanna face south. The microclimate in this area is strongly influenced
by the sea with hot, dry summers but constant winds that reduce humidity. The soil
here is characterized by the presence of sandstone, layers of clay and galestro,
a typical Tuscan stone. The richness of the galestro stone in the soil gives the
wine its unique aroma, complexity and structure. On the northern side of the property,
the vineyards overlook Buonconvento and lie 250 meters above sea level. In this
area, there is a larger presence of clay in the soil. The microclimate is hot and
dry in the summer and more humid in the winter and spring. As a result, the wines
from this area are refined and elegant.
